Allegra Lectures at Symposium in the Philippines on the Importance of Emergency Medicine Education

John R. Allegra, MD, PhD, an attending emergency medicine physician at Morristown (N.J.) Memorial Hospital and chairman of Emergency Medical Associates’ Research Foundation (EMARF), recently spoke at De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmarinas City, Philippines.

Dr. Allegra, a physician partner of Emergency Medical Associates, explained the value of emergency medicine training during the seminar held Jan. 19 at De La Salle Health Sciences Institute.

“There was a lot of interest in emergency medicine,” explained Dr. Allegra. “I was one of three speakers and I received the majority of the questions at the end of the symposium. It was a great opportunity to showcase emergency medicine.”

Dr. Allegra said the medical center plans to launch its emergency medicine residency program soon.

Headquartered in Livingston, Emergency Medical Associates provides emergency medicine and hospitalist services to hospitals and health care systems in New Jersey and New York, treating almost 1 million patients annually. EMARF is its non-profit  organization dedicated to emergency medicine research.
