Cochrane Co-Authors Papers in the Annals of Emergency Medicine and the Journal of American Medical Informatics Association


Dennis Cochrane, MD, FACEP, attending physician with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Morristown (N.J.) Memorial Hospital, recently co-authored two papers. The first paper, titled “Consensus on the Feasibility of Translating the ACEP Clinical Policies Into Computerized Clinical Decision Support,” was published in the "Annals of Emergency Medicine" and the second paper, titled “Developing Syndrome Definitions Based On Consensus and Current Use,” was published in the "Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association."

Dr. Cochrane is a pioneer in the field of healthcare informatics. He was instrumental in the development of one of the country’s first ED-specific electronic medical records (EDIMS) more than 20 years ago. He has been a leader in the field of biosurveillance and has worked with the CDC, Department of Defense and the NY State Department of Health.

Dr. Cochrane was recently recognized by The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) for his participation in the ACEP Informatics Section Grant Project titled “Feasibility of Translating ACEP Clinical Policies into Computerized Clinical Decision Support.” The Informatics Section was awarded ACEP's 2010 “Service to Section Award.”
