Dalsey Selected as Runner-Up for National Emergency Department Director of the Year Award


William Dalsey, MD, FACEP, chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, N.J., and Vice President of Quality at Emergency Medical Associates, was selected as one of three runners-ups for the Blue Jay Consulting/American College of Emergency Medicine (ACEP) Emergency Medicine Foundation’s 2010 Emergency Department Director of the Year award.

This award recognizes current emergency department physician leaders who demonstrate significant contributions to their emergency department in the areas of quality patient care, operational effectiveness, education and community service. Award recipients demonstrated collaborative relationships with nursing and ancillary departments to implement and improve operational and clinical standards based on evidence-based practice. Additionally, recipients were recognized for their ability to create and sustain high degrees of patient satisfaction while implementing creative and innovative strategies to address emergency department throughput.

Dr. Dalsey was selected as a runner-up from more than 80 national and international nominees by a multidisciplinary selection panel of emergency medicine physicians and thought leaders. He was recognized for demonstrating significant contributions to Kimball Medical Center’s Emergency Department in the areas of quality patient care, operational effectiveness, provider education and community service.

Dr. Dalsey’s collaborative approach to patient care has earned Kimball Medical Center top patient satisfaction scores for the last five years, as calculated by Press Ganey. He helped develop one of the first “No Wait" Emergency Departments in the United States.
