Egan Co-Authors Paper About Skin and Soft Tissue Infections in the Annual of Emergency Medicine

Daniel Egan, MD, attending ED physician at St. Vincent’s Hospital-Manhattan and EMA physician, recently co-authored a research paper in the December edition of the journal Annuals of Emergency Medicine.

The research article, titled “Increased US Emergency Department Visits for Skin and Soft Tissue Infections, and Changes in Antibiotic Choices, During the Emergence of Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus,” tested the hypothesis that ED visits for skin and soft tissue infections become more frequent during the emergence of community-associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), and that antibiotics typically active against community-associated MRSA were chosen increasingly.
