Emergency Medical Associates Joins the Blogosphere

Blog Header

Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) recently began publishing the blog “Perspectives in Emergency Medicine: Views and Vision for the Changing EM Landscape.”

The blog features a rotating group of contributors who provide concise, insightful commentary on emergency medicine topics of interest to physicians, healthcare executives, medical students, mid-level providers and nurses.

“Our goal is to create a forum for current and future emergency medicine physicians – and the constituents they serve – to discuss the issues that affect our practice every day,” said Raymond Iannaccone, MD, FACEP, president and chief executive officer of Emergency Medical Associates. “From decreased reimbursement to overcrowding to balancing home life and work life, emergency medicine is a specialized field with very specific challenges – but also with very specific rewards.”

Current and future bloggers include:

  • Eric Bachenheimer, MBA, MHSA, FACHE, director of ED Solutions, a consulting firm focused on emergency department clinical operations and patient satisfaction
  • Shilpa Amin-Shah, MD, FACEP, emergency department physician
  • William Indruk, MD, FACEP, healthcare executive
  • William B. Felegi, DO, FACEP, emergency department associate director

Topics for discussion include:

  • The effect of financial instability nationally on the delivery of healthcare locally
  • Issues regarding the use of medical marijuana in New Jersey, where its use was recently legalized
  • Balancing life and work, and avoiding burnout
  • Overcrowding in the emergency department and reducing wait times
  • Tips for residents for navigating interview season
  • Medicare reimbursement and how proposed cuts will affect emergency physicians
  • Obamacare and the shift of the uninsured to Medicaid in light of limited funding
  • The role of physicians in developing relationships with their elected officials in Washington
  • The merits of supporting emergency medicine political action committees

Emergency Medical Associates also explores issues in emergency medicine via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube.
