Gerardi Presents Pediatric Emergency Medicine Guidelines and Research

Michael J. Gerardi, MD, FAAP, FACEP, Senior Vice President of Emergency Medical Associates, spent significant time on the road in 2011, sharing his knowledge of pediatric emergency medicine.

Most recently, Dr. Gerardi presented “When the Little Heart Fails: The New American heart Association 2010 Resuscitation Guidelines,” during the Nov. 8, 2011 meeting of the Colorado Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

Other presentations in the last year included:

  • Symposia Medicus Winter Conference on Pediatric Emergency Medicine in Breckenridge, Colo., March 2-4, 2011. Topics included “Update in Pediatric Procedural Sedation and Analgesia; Case Studies in Pediatric Fluid and Electrolyte Management; and Pediatric Orthopedic Emergencies.”
  • Center for Emergency Medical Education’s Advanced Emergency Medicine Nursing Conference in Las Vegas April 11-12, 2011. Topics included “Update in Pediatric Procedural Sedation and Analgesia; Case Studies in Pediatric Fluid and Electrolyte Management; and Pediatric Orthopedic Emergencies.”
  • Hospital Partners National Directors Meeting in Dallas on April 28, 2011, where he presented “Avoiding Trouble: Using Pediatric Guidelines to Decrease Risk.”
  • Emergency Department Practice Management Association’s Solutions Summit XIV in Las Vegas on May 14, 2011, where he co-presented “Fair Payment Methodologies in Emergency Medicine.”
  • Southeastern Chapters of ACEP’s Annual Conference in Destin, Fla., June 6-7, 2011. Topics included “Pediatric Emergency Medicine Tricks of the Trade and Pediatric Guidelines to Enhance Safety.”

Dr. Gerardi is the director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Gerardi serves on the Board of Directors  and is Secretary-Treasurer of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and is a past-president of the Physicians New Jersey Chapter.

A partner at Emergency Medical Associates, Dr. Gerardi also is the President of Superior Insurance Company, Risk Retention Group, a medical professional liability company.
