Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, a member of Barnabas Health, is a 673- bed facility where approximately 80,000 ED patients are treated annually. The emergency room offers a fast-track for minor emergencies, is a Medical Command Center for Emergency Medical Services and features a separate pediatric and geriatric emergency department. The hospital also offfers a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship program.

The hospital is home to New Jersey’s most comprehensive robotic surgery center; the state’s first accredited sleep disorders center and one of the largest electrophysiology programs in New Jersey. Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is one of two hospitals in the state where heart transplants are performed and the only hospital in New Jersey certified to perform lung transplants.

It has been recognized by The Joint Commission as a “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures,” and is certified by The Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification Program in Acute Coronary Syndrome.
