Out of 67 received submissions, 25 entrants were chosen to present posters and Nyack Hospital was the unanimous choice of the judges.

“By deviating from the traditional triage model, and utilizing LEAN Six Sigma, Nyack Hospital implemented a bedside triage model which successfully improved patient quality, safety, satisfaction and virtually eliminated patients leaving without being seen,” stated Oscar Marcilla, MD, FACEP, Director, Department of Emergency Medicine at Nyack Hospital.

“Through the collaborative efforts of the physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team, and supported by the operational expertise of Emergency Medical Associates, the Emergency Department at Nyack Hospital was transformed into one of the best in the nation for patient satisfaction and operations.  The staff embraces the philosophy of a 30-Minute Service Standard and continues to strive to improve patient satisfaction, safety and quality of care in the Emergency Department.  The Quality Symposium Award recognizes the success of the LEAN technology on transforming Emergency Department care in our community," stated Michael Rader, MD, Vice President, Chief Medical Officer at Nyack Hospital.
