Richmond University Medical Center is a 510-bed hospital treating 70,000 ED patients annually and serving nearly 500,000 residents of Staten Island. Located on the North Shore, on two campuses, the Medical Center has filled the role of a traditional public hospital by caring for the impoverished and underserved of the community. Their community outreach initiatives, including education and screenings, will reach over 25,000 people this year. In addition, their Emergency Department is a Level I Trauma Center, led by board certified emergency department physicians. The hospital is a New York State designated Stroke Center. Additionally, they boast a Center for Diabetes Medicine, a Sleep Disorders Center, a Wound Care Center, a Pain Management Center and more. Their physicians include leaders in vascular surgery, pediatric gastroenterology, ophthalmology, urology, oncology and cardiology.
