Shih Co-Authors Articles, Gives Lectures


Richard Shih, MD, FACEP, recently co-authored two articles and gave two lectures. Dr. Shih also contributed a case report and clinical policy.

The articles were entitled:

  • “Drug Withdrawal: Behavioral Emergencies” - A Handbook for Emergency Physicians
  • “Plants, Mushrooms and Herbals” - Rosen’s Emergency Medicine Concepts and Clinical Practice

The case report was entitled:

  • “Successful Use of Emergent Endovascular Aneurysm Repair for a Ruptured Hypotensive Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm” – Case Reports in Clinical Medicine

The clinical policy was entitled:

  • “Critical Issues in the Evaluation and Management of Adult Patients in the Emergency Department With Asymptomatic Elevated Blood Pressure” – Annals of Emergency Medicine

Dr. Shih also:

  • Conducted two lectures on toxicology and psychiatric disorders at the American Academy of Emergency Medicine written review course held Aug 21-23 in Orlando. He also served as the scientific chair for the meeting.
  • Presented a poster entitled, “Whole Bowel Irrigation Indications in Poison Control Centre Overdose Patients” at the European Association of Poisons Centres and Clinical Toxicologists Conference held May 28-31 in Denmark

Dr. Shih is the residency director for the department of emergency medicine at Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center.
