Vijay Akkapeddi, MD, FACEP, FAAEM, joined Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) in 2007. Dr. Akkapeddi is chairman and medical director of the Emergency Department at Christ Hospital, Jersey City, N.J. Prior to his current position, Dr. Akkapeddi served as vice chairman and medical director at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.
He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He is a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York, American Academy of Emergency Medicine for India, American Academy of Physicians of Indian Origin, New York State Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Osmania University Medical Graduates Association.

Dr. Akkapeddi received his undergraduate degree at Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, and his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He completed his first residency in general surgery at Harlem Hospital, New York City, and his second residency in emergency medicine at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, New York City.
